• Gutenberg automatically adds the Classic toolbar to my text blocks. Even if I use “Convert to Blocks”. The classic editor remains in place and there are no settings in the sidebar on the right (like color settings etc.). It just says “Classic Use the classic WordPress editor”).

It worked fine a few days ago.

  • That’s interesting. And only a puzzle solver like me would write something like this. It actually sounds terrible.

Do you be any chance have the Classic Editor plugin installed? A recent update changed added another setting to it. You can double-check under Dashboard > Settings >Writing.

Do you have any other plugins installed that add Custom Blocks to your site? If might be caused by one of those, not intentionally, of course. If you briefly deactive a third party blocks plugin and see if it persists.

Of course, it could also be a result of a different plugin incompatibility. Hard to tell. There is the WordPress Health Check plugin, that allows you as an admin in troubleshooting mode to deactivite plugins and themes, without taking your site down for visitor. I have found it to be very very helpful when something ‘unexplainable’ happens on a WordPress site.

It would be really helpful for other forums visitors if you could report back with your steps to hunt this one down:-)
