Do new users have to register, or can existing users (we have 3000+) access and use the forums without having to register or set up a new profile?

Is access controlled by user role? If not, what limits access to certain forums, is it only usergroups? Is there a way to add existing users to new usergroups?

    Thanks!

    Hello @redkite

Your existing wordpress-users dont need to create a new account for the forum.

You can create new usergroups for forums and define access based on them for certain categories. You can add users to those groups.

Okay, good. When a new user is created manually, I’m guessing they can just be added to a usergroup then?

There is an option which allows that new users are added to a specific usergroup automatically. You can also assign them manually if to other groups if required (via bulk actions or one by one).

How would you bulk-assign all existing users to a usergroup? In the DB? Or is there a way in the forum plugin itself?

You can bulk-assign them via the user-management backend-screen of WordPress.

Thanks so much, I’m recommending this for my client.
