Can duplicator be used to run site from local directory on PC?

    Duplicator appears to be the perfect answer to backing up my site. In the past I have simply downloaded all the files from my web server to a local directory via ftp, but that method does not allow me to run the site locally.

    I installed the plug in, downloaded a backup zip file and the installer .php, but it appears I may need to install a server environment on my local PC. Not sure if I am explaning this the right way, but I would like to run the site with a browser from a local directory on my PC.

    The backup and transfer capabilities are also great, but for now I need to run the site locally.
