Can crunchbase.com be done with wordpress ?

Since WordPress work with plugins, I’d say yes, it’s quite possible.
You must know how to code into PHP and manipulate MySql.

Can you maybe help me think of a basic layout of how to do it ?

What I want is a “data base” of (let’s say) companies and people inside them.
For each of them I need a “page”.
And I want that in a second website, I’ll be able to “take information” from the first website, regarding those people/companies (just the same as what crunch base does for techcrunch)
