• I have only recently moved my site from WordPress.com to www.remarpro.com. Chose a host that had a server here in the Netherlands, somehow felt easier accessible. I’ve seen a decline in visitors from the beginning, although the domain name remained the same. I’m wondering if the geographical location of the host server can be of influence?

Most of my visitors come from the US, so maybe changing the place where the server is changes the way my website is found by search engines?

Speed probably matters the most. Sites that are hosted overseas may be slower to your users. Just something to consider.

Thanks for your answer. So no one has heard of the location of the server influencing the search engines?

Or is there something I’m missing in keeping my search rankings when moving from WordPress.com to www.remarpro.com?

That’s not really a WordPress question. I found a video from Google about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keIzr3eWK8I

Location can be a factor, but it’s not a big factor.

The most likely reason for a decline in visitors is the move away from WordPress.COM and that’s because you’ve moved away from that big network into your own little self-contained system. If it’s a concern you might want to look at Jetpack, but from what I’ve seen it’s usually not a big deal, and if you keep on creating decent content you’ll get back to where you were pretty easily.
