• My security plugin version, WordPress version, and all other plugins were frozen in time at the end of 2012. I haven’t updated any of them, and (since all plugins are compatible) it will stay that way until I can hire a consultant to update everything for me. This isn’t recommended practice, but it’s the best I can do.
CAN I UPDATE THE VERSION OF PHP THAT RUNS MY SITE FROM 5.2 (THE OLD VERSION) TO 5.4? My initial tests with PHP showed no problems, but I’ve tried running PHP 5.4 for one month, and the daily security emails I’m getting don’t show the same consistency as when I used PHP 5.2. (For example, some files should always update in pairs, but security reports don’t indiate that.) WAS THE OLD PLUGIN SENSITIVE TO THE VERSION OF PHP BEING USED?

  • The current version has been tested with PHP 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5.

Thanks for your attention Chris. Unfortunately, I can’t use the current version of your security plugin, since I’m stuck with WordPress 3.4.2 and ten old, compatible plugins. Maybe I should stick with the old PHP, since any of the ten plugins (not just Better WP Security) could rely on features in PHP 5.2 that were deprecated.
