Can anyone Tell me why my blog is so slow?

I’m having trouble with my page load time and I just was told by my host that the design in my site is requiring something like 250-280 images to be downloaded but these images do not show on the site!
It’s the normal CSS and Java but over 200 small images are needing to load and I can’t figure out why?

Can someone tell me why and how to solve this dilemma?
I would sure appreciate it!
