Can anybody tell me difference in features image and attached?

    When I create a post with a featured image, the post doesn’t show it.

    When I create a post with image inside it. The image is displayed.

    What’s the difference and how can I make my featured post to show inside post?

  • The post only shows images that you insert.
    So, in order to have your featured image shown in the post you should use the “Insert image”.

    Now, let’s try to explain featured vs. attached:
    When you upload images to a post, all those images are attached. But you can select one of them to be the featured image.

    The featured image is theme specific and used outside of the post, some themes like magazine themes show the featured image as a thumbnail in the list views with the title and excerpt.

    This gives the author the choice of which image should be used to best represent the post, the first image is not always the one we might want, the featured image may not be in the post at all, so the featured image is used.

    You would just add your image in the editor if you want it to be part of the post.

    1-If i want to show my posts in a grid and displaying the thumbnails would inserting the post in editor would do or I need a featured image in addition to inserted post?

    2-Does an inserted image becomes an attachment of the post or it’s a part of library and is referenced from the library each time post is viewed.
