I’ve been informed that my web host has a firewall that protects their servers but does not protect their customer’s websites. In this case if I install some type of firewall on my site will it be effective for blocking malicious traffic and can a firewall stop a hacker from creating a backdoor to my site by exploiting vulnerable code in files, themes, or plugins?

    Robert Eichhorn, hi there.

I guess you’re talking about WAF or at least about some kind of plugins with such functions, like Wordfence or WP Cerber for example.

This is not the easiest question, since everything depends on a number of parameters. But, if you need a simple solution, then one of the top-rated security plugin should be enough.

Just remember that there is no and never will be perfect and 100% guaranteed protection, there are always risks and new threats. So do not forget to set up a backup of your website.
