Call widget in page template

  • Hi Folks,

    Using the twentyeleven theme, could someone please tell me how I can insert a widget into the page template?

    just a widget which is specific to that page template?
    and where exactly?

    or the normal sidebar?

    Thanks for your reply.

    I have removed the dynamic sidebar from my theme files, and used some custom code in its place.

    I was after a shortcode to insert a widget into index.php?

    Can I echo out something like:

    [widget widget_name="widget_name"]

    in my php theme files?
