Calender permalink problem

I’ve tried a few just to see if that was the problem. Here’s what I have now:
/index.php/archives/%postname%/

OK, just changed it to the full…
/index.php/archives/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/
and that seems to have done the trick. I was hoping to shorten it a bit…. oh well!
