Calendar Showing Past (Recurring) Events
-
Default Calendar Start Date is blank so I would anticipate that no past event is displayed unless the visitor clicks in that direction.
For recurring events, however, past instances of the event are shown. Without repeatedly editing the event record to keep moving the Start date of recurring events I cannot stop the calendar from displaying past instances of recurring events. This defeats one of the primary purposes (set and forget) of recurring events – I may as well just make multiple copies of a single event. In short, the behaviour makes recurring events pretty much pointless for me.
Either I’m missing something about the reason for the behavour – or it’s a bug. I’m looking for a reason (maybe I’ve missed something), useable workaround or a bug fix.
Notes: On my site I have edited the offending event (Mud Pie Cafe) to start from today – so the problem is not visible to my visitors. After today’s instance I’ll do it again, and again, and again ….
For me this seems a minor problem, but for ai1ec users with a greater need for recurring events it is likely to be more significant. Perhaps there’s a case for eliminating the behaviour or, perhaps, it should be made optional (at system level or, even, event level)
