We’ve been using the Time.ly event calendar on our site for a few years with no issues (using the plug-in on our WordPress site).

Now, however, we are unable to add a new event. When we try to add/configure a new event, the start date and time don’t open any calendar to choose a date, and clicking the other categories (event location details, etc) don’t have any effect (the category does not even open).

Settings says to sign in to the Time.ly Network, but none of these things are clickable:
    – Show form
    – Viewing Events
    – Adding/Editing Events
    – Advanced
    – Add-ons
    – “this link” (if the form is not working)
    – Save Settings

Clicking on any of the above options has no effect; nothing opens. Even following the “this link” in case the form is not working does not do anything.

I have already checked for plugin conflicts. Using WordPress 4.9.5 and the plugins and themes are all up to date.

Since there is no support email address on the site, I emailed [email protected] and asked them for suggestions. The anonymous response was “Sorry I’m not in support so I will not be much help. You can try posting on the forum.”

So here I am. Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Hi @pctutor

Generally the kind of problem you describe is due to your host’s PHP installation. We recommend switching your PHP version, either up or down (minimum supported PHP version is 5.6) to see if you can sign into the Timely Network under Events > Settings.

You can also try a manual reinstall but I believe the above will solve your problem.

Manual reinstall. These instructions will preserve your current events:

    – Perform a complete back up of your database before proceeding further
    – Delete the file uninstall.php from the plugin directory that is currently on the server (found under /wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar). Deleting this file ensures that when you uninstall the current version of the plugin, your event data and calendar settings will be preserved when you delete the plugin (don’t skip this step – it’s important!)
    – Deactivate the All-in-One Event Calendar using your WordPress Dashboard.
    – Delete the All-in-One Event Calendar using your WordPress Dashboard.
    – Database -> wp_options, click option_name to sort and delete everything with ai1ec_, this will delete plugin settings but events will remain in the database.
    – Now install the latest version.

Thanks. When I go to change the PHP version, I am asked which folder to change the PHP version for:

    Folder blwhiteh / public_html (php56)
    Folder Up One Level
    Folder wp-admin (php56)
    Folder cgi-bin (php56)
    Folder wp-includes (php56)
    Folder wp-content (php56)

I changed it to PHP version 5.6.35 for all of them, bu the result was the same (couldn’t log in). They also offer PHP versions 7.1.16 and 7.2.4 but when I changed to those versions, the site was completely gone. The system default version was 7.0.29.

Not sure where to go from here.

    Hi @pctutor,

Be sure to update everything — Your WordPress installation, our Core calendar installation, and switch to the default PHP version of your host 7.0.29 — also, contact your host if after updating the site is not showing — the problem is then your host’s fault.

Can you tell me who your hosting provider is?

Thanks. The host is Siteground. WordPress and all plugins are up to date. I’ll check with the host about the problem with the newer PHP versions killing the site.

Found that there was another plug-in that was causing an apparent conflict. I am now able to upgrade the site to PHP version 7.1.16.

However, I am still unable to log in to my Time.ly account in Events – Settings. Clicking on “Show Form” has no effect.

Any other ideas on what I can try?

    Hi @pctutor,

If the form isn’t visible at all, from our experience, in every case it was related to the host’s installation of PHP being incomplete or out of date. In this case, it may be missing common extensions. I could only account for one that is known, namely, ICONV — make sure it is enabled with your host.

Another solution that worked for other users, was switching the PHP version (up, or down) — in both cases it has worked.

Client getting impatient with the calendar not working. I just found a different calendar plugin and it’s working fine. Thanks for your help anyway.
