Calendar Map disapears after page load.

Hey there and sorry for the trouble!

The Google Maps API can fail for a number of reasons. Do any of the suggestions in this post help fix the issue?

Yeah, I followed the link before posting for assistance.
Strange thing is that I see the map & location for a split second then it disappears replaced with a grey block.

I am experiencing the same problem. This problem is not browser specific. It’s not virtual or live server specific. All other plugins deactivated. Google API installed and confirmed.

Not sure if this is related but I also get the following script errors in Firefox.

Have replace the site name as its still in development.

From your screenshot of the error that is a API error from Google.

It does not recognize the API key or it is not setup correctly in their end.

That causes the map to show, but then hide and be replaced like that.

If you can provide a link we can take a look, but hard to say otherwise without seeing the issue.

This issue is not unique to “The Events Calendar” plugin, other Google Maps plugins have similar issues. There is a ton of threads out there.

Google Map APIs come in many versions as you well know. The two versions in play here are “Static Map API” and the other is a “Maps JavaScript API.”

I just created a new project using the “Maps JavaScript API” link from the DEV library. I first generated the new “JavaScript” API key and then entered the correct referrals:

*.mydomain.com/*

*mydomain.com/*

(notice with and without preceding dot)

You can still use the static map API key for non-java calls.

Don’t forget to set the Google Maps default zoom level in the Events Settings-General section.

I hope this resolves this for issue for all other EC map users.
