Hi. I have looked through the discussions and tried everything that was said, and I am still unable to see our events. Please help.

We are using your widget as it allows us to incorporate all three of our feeds into one calendar which can be quickly accessed from our home page. I really like your plugin and it has been tremendously useful for the past month, but now that we are into a new month, I am not able to see the events on the home page.

Our website is https://stormb2001.com. I have no idea what is not working to display the calendar feeds through the homepage widget. The calendars are displaying on the calendar and schedule pages though. For your reference they can be accessed here https://stormb2001.com/calendar. Your assistance is greatly appreciated as the dimensions of the google calendar do not format well into the widget on our home page so your plugin allows us to get the information and display it properly. Thanks for you help.

    Hello,

It looks like you have the “Maximum number of events to display” option in the widget settings (Appearance > Widgets) set to 7. If you set it to 0 (to display all events) does it work correctly?

    Hi Ross,

I had tried it with maximum events at 0 initially and it didn’t work, then I set it to 7 to see if I could get it to simply list the events for the upcoming two weeks – we have at least three events on the calendar for every week. Unfortunately, it still didn’t work. I have reset back to calendar with everything at zero, but I am still not having any luck. I have also tried grid with AJAX (I don’t know what AJAX is though) and both types of lists but to no avail. Thanks for helping me with this issue.

What do you have the following options set to for the feeds?

    • Retrieve events from
    • Retrieve events until
    • Maximum number of events to retrieve

(These can be found by clicking the “Edit” link for each feed in the plugin settings)

Do you see any error messages near the calendar (If there are any, they’ll only appear when logged in as an admin)?

AJAX, in this case, just means “with month navigation functionality” (I should’ve named it more clearly!). You’ll probably want the “Calendar grid – with AJAX” version, so that users can navigate between months.

Retrieve events from – today: 0
    Retrieve events until – specific/time date: 0
Maximum number of events to retrieve – 25

I was just playing with the date/time function and was able to set it to the end of time. It is working now.

Thank you so much, because I would not have figured that I told it not to retrieve events.

I guess when I set this up I had figured out how to make it go until the end of May, but it didn’t occur to me that there were other options on determining the end date of retrieval.

Your plugin is amazing. Thanks again for helping me. Have a blessed day.

No problem! I’m glad you got it figured out.

    HI there,

I’m also having trouble with this not working–in fact, when I put it above other widgets in the sidebar, they disappear!

the calendar feed is here: https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/npg8h9l5gq75uvi8hb4dinbhh0%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic

    the webpage is here: 350Seattle.org

I’ve looked at all the options, and can’t figure out either why my events aren’t showing up or why this would eat any of the widgets below it (I’d love to have it above the FB widget, but don’t, at the moment, because of that problem). thanks!

    Hello,

This looks like a different problem altogether. It seems like a fatal PHP error is occurring. Do you have access to your web server’s error logs?

this is what my host said he sees a lot of: [Mon Jun 03 13:44:24 2013] [error] [client 24.22.128.199] File does not
    exist: /home/350seattle/public_html/wp-content/plugins/google-calendar-events,
    referer: https://350seattle.org/

but the google-calendar-events.php is indeed in the plugins directory. any idea what’s happening?

    thanks!

It looks like you’ve put the plugin files directly into the wp-content/plugins directory?

The plugin files need to be kept within the google-calendar-events directory.

So, in your wp-content/plugins directory, there should be a google-calendar-events directory that contains the google-calendar-events.php file (along with the other files / folders that make up the plugin).

Oy–yes, it was that simple. sorry–my other plugins requested just being dumped in the directory (which surprised me) , so I did that automatically for this too. working like a charm now….

    thanks again.
