I’m LOVING this plugin so far – BUT the monthly calendar fails WCAG 2.0 accessibility tests (using the WAVE tool). This a is definite barrier to accessibility and SEO.

    There are 2 issues:

    ISSUE #1
There are no alt attributes included with the image popups; so even though I have specified alternative text for all images, no alt text is present.

    ISSUE #2
The search tool and associated popup form has 7 missing form labels.

I have searched and can’t find anything in the plugin settings that would address either issue (missing form labels or missing alt attribute for image popups).

It seems that in its current state, this plugin can’t be used for projects that have WCAG 2.0 accessibility requirements – or projects where SEO is critical.

I would love to give this plugin a 5 star rating and I’m hoping the developers can address these 2 issues so I can do that!

    Thanks

  • I share your concern. One of the members of our organization (an association of community theatres) is a very big arts access advocate. He is frequently after me about accessibility issues with our website. I find it hard to believe that something as simple as including the alt text with an image is that big of a deal to implement. Adding labels to forms is always a space concern, but doable and necessary.

Thanks for lending your support to this request. Just to clarify, the form labels don’t need to be visible. As long as they are present & accessible to machines (bots, screen readers, etc.) it will pass WCAG 2.0 accessibility testing. There are accessible methods to turn off visibility of elements such as labels – so their visibility could be turned off by default (using CSS) and optionally turned on either via a plugin option or custom CSS.
