Calendar, events and posts…

I’m not having much luck finding a calendar or events plugin that also syncs with a Post. What I’m mainly trying to create is a list of Posts previewing future events, and I would like them to appear in order of their event date, not based on the date I publish the Post.

WPCalList looks to do that, but it’s not putting the Posts in categories. I’m also not getting much support for it. That said, I’m hoping there are other options I have just overlooked.
