• This question may be related to an earlier one I submitted.
I have a calendar displaying only events of the week of a particular category, Fitness shaded Blue. Some of the entries disappeared. In my previous situation a category would not be displayed because the event was a repeating event and on some earlier date I had changed that category to CANCELLED.
I think the calendar of the particular week should look at the category of the event on that week only to display events of that week instead of looking at the category of the event for all the weeks (especially past weeks) to determine whether to display it in a category selected calendar.

I got around this by selecting the repeating event, ALL, and restoring the category to FITNESS which I suppose reverted the previous category CANCELLED events to FITNESS and now the FITNESS event of the week are displayed.

This isn’t a good idea because I don’t look at this calendar every week and an event could easily be lost in the display because it was CANCELLED some week along the way and I won’t be aware of it.

Perhaps there is another way I can change one instance of a repeating event to a different category w/o having this effect on my category specified calendar.
    Thanks, Joe.

Thanks – I’ll have to look into this. As I understand the issue, it’s that you can’t get a single event in a recurring event to change categories without changing the category on all events in that recurring series – is that correct?

Not exactly, Joe. The issue is this:
if I change the category of a single instance of a recurring event,
for example from Fitness (8) to Cancelled (22),
the calendar by category ([my_calendar time=”week” id=”bpera-calendar” category=”8, 15″]) will no longer display future instances as belonging to the Fitness category.
However, these future instances are displayed in the correct Fitness color, blue.

I don’t understand why one part of the software (the part that translates the category color) knows future instances are Fitness but the calendar by category doesn’t recognize the same thing.

As I stated earlier, the only way I can get around this is to reset ALL the instances to the first category (Fitness) unless you have a smarter way of doing this.

I think this one is related to a previous issue I raised:

[My Calendar] today’s events widget ignores selected categories

Thanks, for looking into this, Joe.

An event can have more than one category, but can only show in one color. So if an event is in both the ‘Fitness’ and ‘Cancelled’ categories, then anything that applies to cancelled (e.g., not appearing in a calendar) will apply to it; but so will anything that applies to ‘Fitness’ (blue color.) So that makes perfect sense to me.

However, when you edit a single instance of a recurring event, that edit should not effect future events; only the single instance should have a change. So that’s what I’d be wanting to review.
