    Hello.

A while back here, i was informed that Comet Cache works with this plugin. Tested today and it doesn’t work (doesn’t update at all when some new album or photo is added).

I also check WP Super Cache with this plugins and seems to work just fine.

    Just FYI.

    Thanks

Thanx for the info. My experience is still that comet cache works correctly, but i will have a look later.

I would like to correct my above post: WP Super Cache also doesn’t work well with the plugin.

For example when a user CHANGES the Name or the Description of HIS album, the base page of the plugin doesn’t update at all.

(base page is the page that contains the wppa shortcode), the entrance of the wppa plugin.

Strange. It seems that after while (a CRON ?) the pages are updated and re-cached.

I will have to check again with Comet Cache if that is also the case. Because we use Comet Cache and i hate to drop it. I only trust Comet Cache, it has never failed me.

    I will update here.

    Thank you

I will add a few locations where to clear the cach(es).

Pls update to 6.8.04, released a few minutes ago.

You will find even faster lightbox and always cache cleared on edit album/photo.
Note that indexing is done at the background and may take a few seconds.

Jacob this version works so much better with Comet Cache (and probably with WP Super Cache).

I have found only ONE case it doesn’t update, when the Admin Removes (deletes) an Album.

    Thanks !

I will get into that, i.e. will be fixed in 6.8.05

For anybody reading this, in order to have caching to “cache” for almost all WPPPA pages, you MUST enable Ajax in “Table IV Use Ajax as much as possible”.

If NOT, then your urls have “?” and the caching plugins consider them dynamic and doesn’t cache them.

Took me a while to figure that out. I had Ajax disabled because of some strange “autoscrolling” in my theme.

Try Table IV-A6: Enable pretty links

    It is enabled.

Anyway, i think i better exclude the plugin from caching to be sure and avoid problems.

Just to clear something. Nothing wrong with WPPA plugin. It is just that caching plugins can’t work right with all WP 3rd party plugins.

That is why a lot of plugins have their own caching (internal) mechanism.

During last weekend i (re) installed WPPA plugin to my personal project site and uploaded some 300 photos.

Did also a lot of tests with the Comet Cache before excluding the wppa urls.

After 48 hours i checked the cache folders and i saw only 3 pages cached. The wppa page that contains the shortcode and two albums.

That seemed strange and i enabled the Comet Cache comments at the bottom of html source of each page.

And i found that for EACH photo displayed at Lightbox popup, the cache is refreshed. Why ? Because the URL is the same as the Album url.

So actually there is a very very little caching happening so totally excluding the urls will make no change in my site performance.

Just some information for people reading here.

    Thanks

That is because the viewcounter is bumped when the lightbox displays the large image.

No, it is because the URLS are the same. So all images have the same URL as page #1 of each album.
