Hi, I am getting various issues when moving sites between live and dev environments using updraftplus migrate to move between the sites.

The live site has SG Optimizer enabled. I then create a backup with updraftplus, move the site to a dev environment, make changes, then migrate back with updraftplus.

When I do this, it breaks caching with errors like:
    – can’t enable memcache (it says can’t disable memcache when I try to enable it)
    – site not cached using the level 2 cache tester.

Each time support has fixed it (eg create cache-object.php, rebuild nginx vhost). My question is, what is the correct process to avoid the problems. Do I need to disable the plugin before backup up?

    What would you recommend?

    Hello @washley,

    Ivan Atanasov from SiteGround here.

It is always a good idea to isolate/disable caching methods when actively making changes or transferring a website. You can test this on your end and see the result.

I created a test environment including a fresh WordPress installation with only the most common free plugins installed. Static Cache, Dynamic Cache, Memcache were all active in Super Cacher and SG Optimizer. The UpdraftPlus backup completed without issues and I was able to restore it successfully. No errors were recorded in the log during the backup creation and restore.

The test website is still being cached properly.

Regarding your issue, it could be cased by something else other than the combination of SG Optimizer and UpdraftPlus. If you are still facing the problem, you can provide us with a test environment yourself and instructions how to reproduce the problem. It will be our pleasure to review this for you.
