Caching? How to activate

Hello,

I’m running WordPress 2.0.4. Can someone please direct me to a page the describes how page caching works, how to activate it, etc? I’m a little confused from the reading I’ve done so far whether or not I need to find a plugin, or if it is already part of WP.
