Caching frequency

    Hi,
    I have a client on a multisite with many of their child sites using FTS for their facebook feed. Some of the sites are noticing that FTS caches posts from quite a while ago, announcing events that have already passed. I have suggested they try using the Developer Mode option but they don’t want the feeds to not be caching at all as their sites can get a lot of traffic.

    My question is: how often is FTS set to automatically clear caches? And is there any way I can adjust this to suit my client’s needs?

    Thanks for contacting us and using the plugin! The feed caches for about 15-20 minutes. At this time we do not have a way to adjust the time other than developer mode as you suggested. It’s possible our plugin is getting cached by another caching plugin on the sites. Although we geared our plugin not to, anything is possible at times.

    Hi Spencer,

    Thank you for your reply. I have been getting more info from the client and the problem isn’t actually that the posts are cached but that the date of the posts on the websites are all set to today’s date. Even posts that were posted several weeks ago will display in the feed with the same date’s date (if that makes sense). I took some screenshots of the website’s feed and their facebook wall in case that will assist in finding the root of the problem.

    However, I did also notice that the plugin has an update available so I’ll update it and see if this fixes it.

    Ah, yeah try the update and if that does not work… not sure how long ago you started using the plugin but facebook updated the API a while ago and it was required you make a new app token if you were using the event feed.
