In GT Metrix, my page speed score is showing that my SVG files (company logo for example) need a cache validator.

I have done a bit of digging and found that it seems like a possible error from the plugin. Please see this article on it.

    https://seo-gold.com/w3-total-cache-plugin-removing-etag-last-modified-headers-from-favicion-ico/

I have followed the advice and edited the .htaccess file in the correct place, but upon a cache purge it reverts the settings back to how it was and so in GT Metrix it still throws the same error.

Essentially part of the W3TC settings in the .htaccess file are undoing the etag.

Is there anything that you can do to correct this error in the next version, or is there a fix for it?

    Thanks.

    Hello,
In Browser Cache -> HTML/XML enable ETag and Last Modified. That will enable caching of SVG type too

thanks for the quick reply. Both of those options are already enabled. Hence I researched various solutions and found the article above. Please read the article and you will see that there is a conflicting error in the plugin somewhere which de-selects the etag option.

    Hello,

The ETag header is un-set if hosting environment compatibility is enabled. In Page Cache -> Advanced there’s an option Compatibility mode:, which you should disable if you want to get a 100% score on GTMetrix.
