    I have observed that the plugin empties cache (sets files to .old) even before updating plugins if an update is available. Normally you require emptying only after the update.

    Not sure how I can demonstrate how to replicate, so just dropping in my observation.

    We’ll look into this, thank you for sharing your observations.
    There is a chance that something else is called for a cache flush, like a post/article update or some other plugin.

    I’ll get back to you once I have more information.

    Yeah can be many causes but I have observed it for some time and this seems to be one issue: WordPress checking updates triggers the cache flush, so even before choosing to update, the cache is flushed.
