Does your site use Varnish, CloudFlare, or any other reverse proxy that may include caching? Or do you have any additional caching plugins enabled within WordPress?

If you’re not sure, you can check Wordfence’s cache by FTP or SSH, by looking in wp-content/wfcache/ after clearing the cache. If there are no additional folders in there, then there is another cache aside from the one in Wordfence.

If it is Varnish, you can usually find it in your hosting company’s control panel for your site. CloudFlare has its own settings, if you are using their service.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have accessed the area you suggested I can see the folders.

When I go to clear cache I get this:

A total of 0 files were deleted and 0 directories were removed. We cleared a total of 0KB of data in the cache.

The folders do actually disappear but the pages remain unchanged.

I can see a clear.lock file I presume this is correct?

I don’t know anything about Varnish or CloudFlare no sign in Cpanel.

Have asked my hosting provider, will let you know the outcome.

My host tells me that “neither cloudflare or varnish are installed on the web space”.

Let me know if you want any more info?

    Just noticed this: /public_html/wp-content/cache/page_enhanced/

a quick search and yes could it be that I did have W3 Total Cache installed?

I uninsulated W3 when I started using Wordfence, which has a caching feature.

Could this be whats causing the issue, if so whats the best way to put this right?

Ok, if the files and folders in wfcache/ are gone, then there is definitely something else caching the pages. The clear.lock file is normal, too.

Yes, it is possible that W3 Total Cache didn’t uninstall completely — I think it usually leaves some folders behind, but shouldn’t normally keep showing cached pages. The best place to check is in the .htaccess file for the site, which would have code to load the cached pages.

If you’re not sure which parts of the .htaccess file are from W3 Total Cache, it might be easier to temporarily disable Wordfence’s caching, install W3TC again, clear all caches to remove any old files, disable all of the cache options, and then disable W3TC and turn on Falcon again.
