• I recently received the following notice from my hosting company

Your account has an excessive number of files and is degrading the overall server performance

    .

The offending directory was my comet-cache directory in one of my sites, which was full of .tmp files dating back to early 2016.

I spot checked several other sites of mine, and the comet-cache directory in those other sites (all hosted in the same account) were all clean, so I suspect it is a configuration issue with comet cache on that particular site, or a conflict with another plugin.

What steps do you suggest I take in troubleshooting? I manually cleaned the comet-cache directory yesterday, and today there are already 8 files that have accumulated.

The website in question is wmbc.ca.

    Thanks in advance

  • @sheldon-64 If you’re not seeing this issue on other sites hosted on the same server, that’s a good thing, as that issue is usually due to a problem on the server where Comet Cache is unable to properly clean up files.

Since you’re not seeing the problem with other sites on the same server, that points to, as you said, a likely plugin conflict. Please see this article for details on what we recommend in this case.
