Cache Contents Getting Cleared Frequently – How to Diagnose and Prevent?

Some other plugin you have installed is probably doing this. You could search the files of your plugins folder for the string “wp_cache_clear_cache” or “prune_super_cache” and if found, ask the developer of that plugin why their plugin is clearing the cache.

If you don’t find that string, you might have to deactivate your plugins one-by-one until the deletes stop happening.

Of all the plugins, only Yoast SEO has many commands for “wp_cache_clear_cache”, while the other command “prune_super_cache” is only present in WP Super Cache.

So, does that mean Yoast SEO is probably doing this? It’s a very widespread plugin; isn’t there already something related to this problem of clearing your cache?

Since you’ve already identified that Yoast SEO has many commands for wp_cache_clear_cache, it’s likely that Yoast SEO might be causing the issue. You can check the plugin’s settings or documentation for cache-related features.

To further diagnose, you can temporarily deactivate Yoast SEO and observe if the cache clearing stops. If it does, Yoast SEO is likely the culprit.

Additionally you can contact the Yoast SEO plugin support to ask them more about that.

I’ve just disabled Yoast SEO, and now I’ll monitor whether the cache clears on its own in the next few days. So far, it hasn’t lasted longer than 24 hours, so we’ll soon see if the issue is indeed related to Yoast SEO.

I’m not sure, but I think SEO Yoast clears the cache very often. It has been removed for a few days now.

However, the cache is still being cleared quite frequently and automatically. I believe WP Super Cache clears all cache whenever any change is made within the plugins, such as activating or removing a plugin or even changes in the configuration of some plugins.

Is that correct?

There is an option in the plugin Advanced settings page called, “Clear all cache files when a post or page is published or updated.” Do you have that enabled?

Otherwise, cache files aren’t cleared when plugins are activated/removed, or even when themes are changed.

It appears that the cache was being cleared by Yoast SEO. Now I see that I have over 110k cached pages while this plugin is disabled, and the cache hasn’t been cleared in order for the past 9 days.

@donncha This option has been disabled, and when changing settings, the cache still gets cleared, but that’s not as important. The biggest problem was Yoast SEO, which used to clear the cache every day or 2-3 times a day.
