So I did not delete the MySQL database, but just a user.. so I tried recreating a user and editting wp-config.php, so it still keeps saying “Error establishing a database connection”. How do I fix this?.

The reason I by accident deleted the MySQL user is because I got it confused with my FTP account, trying to connect through FTP with MySQL username, so I deleted the SQL username to try and create a new one and attempt to connect through Filezilla. Sigh.. any helpful tips will be greatly appreciated!!.

  • You may try to contact your hosting provider if they kept any backup of your database

Did you remember to give your new user permission to access the database? I occasionally skip that step and wind up confusing myself for a few minutes before my brain kicks in and starts working again.

Did you assign the new user to the database when you look at database you should see the user assigned in database manager

    Hi,

Make sure you create the user and assign the user to the database. When you created the user did you assign all permissions?

Alright, sorry for the late reply on my own thread, I had to sleep on it for awhile. So the problem was I configured the wp-config correctly, but theonly issue was under mysql databases, I did not assign the database user to the database, that’s why it was failing. My hosting company tech support did it for me while I was asleep, so I woke up and the site loaded fine.

Now my https://www.theblogoftech.net loads. Thank you all for the support, hopefully my resolution helps others with the same problem. I will from now on, make sure that I don’t confuse MySQL users with FTP users.
