Hey there, I’ve been trouble shooting some issues with my site. When I also have the jetpack plugin turned on, I get a big blue square over the play and volume control buttons when using the compact player.

If I switch to the html5 player, I get a similar issue where the pause button is much bigger than it should be after the podcast starts playing.

Any ideas what I might need to do to fix this?

Hi there @biggestchops,

Our WordPress developer noticed a conflict between [Independent Publisher 2’s Style.css](https://timhildred.com/wp-content/themes/independent-publisher-2-wpcom/style.css?ver=5.9.3) and the Core WordPress style.css that’s giving these blue boxes over buttons and resizing others.

I’d try reaching out to the developers (I’m not sure if Raam Dev maintains this or Automattic) or the community around this theme about this in the [WordPress.com forum for the theme](https://wordpress.com/theme/independent-publisher-2/support).

Hey again, I’ve gotten a response to the topic that I raised in the forum you suggested. I’m afraid the response is a bit above my head, I think he is saying that either this is a SSP issue or an Independent Publisher 2 issue.

Is it clear to you which he means?

Thanks for your response and also linking to IP2’s support forum! That’ll be really helpful if any other folks find this issue.

I’ve sent this over to our WordPress developer to check out, since admittedly it’s a little over my head as well.

In the meantime, were you able to test out the code snippet this person supplied? You can add them by editing the files or downloading a plugin

Hello @biggestchops!

I believe they didn’t catch the problem, so made some clarification on the forum topic.

Unfortunately, I don’t see any way to fix it from our side since the compact player styling is controlled by WordPress itself. So, I can see a few ways of fixing it:

1. Switch to the HTML player: Podcast -> Settings -> Player -> HTML5 Player With Album Art.
2. Change the theme.
3. Add a custom styling to override the styles from the theme (hire a developer or try to override those styles yourself).
