    Hello,

The anchor button is available (it has a different icon). This button will “name” an anchor that is selected by the user.

However, the button used to link “to” the anchor (the advanced link) button has been deprecated. I’m looking into solutions to bring this functionality back.

The Clker clipart had to be completely recoded (by me), and is therefor only available in the Pro version at this time.

Thanks Josh. I’m still using UTMCE 5.2 with WP 3.9 — obviously with impaired graphics and reduced functionality but some of the functions I use often are still available although they didn’t get ported to free WP Edit, which is a bit of a mystery to me since in some cases it would appear they only need a new icon to work perfectly…

I will be making the transition sometime soon but would prefer it to be gradual to WP Edit, and probably WPEPro. So what would happen if I were to install free WPE without deactivating UTMCE 5.2? Would everything break or would I still have limited access to the UTMCE functions that still work?

Honestly, I can’t say what would happen if you used both. There is not a ‘destruction’ sequence or anything like that ??

But, you may get into function naming clashes (where you would have to manually deactivate one of the plugins); or both plugins trying to do the same function to the editor, which results in unexpected behavior.

Which buttons have you tested that you say are working with WP 3.9?

Well, I can report that UTMCE 5.2 works fine with free WP Edit – and retains some of the lost functionality (even if button icons only appear on mouseover). I can fill in the big missing gaps with other anchor and color plugins – TinyMCE Color Picker is actually a big improvement as it allows custom colors to be saved in the palette.

I hope the dust settles and WP Edit becomes as functional a free plugin as UTMCE used to be. I do appreciate that UTMCE/WP Edit are much bigger utilities than any of the single purpose plugins and therefore much more difficult to update when WP move the goalposts.

Forgot to add that the Clkr clipart gallery works fine in WP 3.9.1 (if you can find its button) so would appear to need nothing more than a new button.

    Hey @chappie,
Thanks for continuing to add information ??

I’m surprised any of the older addons are working for you. Do you know how to inspect the browser console for errors?

It’s possible the Clker Clipart is generating errors, but you just don’t see them.

I’ve checked but don’t see any errors reported. I’ve been working on this site for months and there aren’t any problems anywhere.

Further to my previous comment, UTMCE actually works better on its own – ie without WP Edit – in WP 3.9.1. Adding WP Edit knocks out a couple of UTMCE functions.

I would give you a screen grab of my localhost dev site – but of course you wouldn’t see the invisible buttons!

    Hmmm… very weird.

Honestly.. I wouldn’t recommend using UTMCE anymore. The more WP is udpated.. the more UTMCE is going to become obsolete.

But, you sound like you know what you are doing. So, if you don’t see any apparent issues (and don’t mind dealing with the small ones); then it may work fine for you… for now ??
