• In the v 18 update the theme no longer supports button styling for rounded and outline buttons created in Gutenberg / WP 5.0 editor. This worked previously in v17.0

I have been advised that the CSS in the twenty seventeen has been amended to override the formatting features available in the Gutenberg / wp 5.0 editor for buttons. Is this an error?

The code causing the issue (I am advised – I am not a developer) is in twentyseventeen/assets/css/blocks.css, on line 187

This would appear a retrograde step – please can it be changed back or an alternative solution found.

Please advise as I have a number of sites using the twenty seventeen theme that are all impacted.

    Thanks.

  • Hi @murnaghanap – thanks for reporting this!

This is a bug — the new styles were intended to help the blocks better match how the theme looks, but it should still respect the settings you pick for things like buttons.

I’ve made a ticket for it here, and will be working on a fix:

If you have any questions about the above, please ask!

I can confirm this is happening and is a bug in twentyseventeen.

The styling for .wp-block-button .wp-block-button__link in blocks.css overrules the Gutenberg button settings, like background color and such.

(Just ran into this myself as well)
