    Hi All

I have a question for which I hope someone here can help me…

When one wants to give a reply on an existing comment the comment-form area’s position stays below all comments.

I would rather see that the comment-reply-area’s position is right beneath the comment on which one wants to reply..

The English not being my native tongue, I hope I wrote it understandable ??

Can someone tell me if that is possible and if so what I need to adjust and where?

Thank you, have a splendig weekend!
    Sincere Greetings, Melody (https://melodymusic.nl)

  • Hi there,

Using a fresh installation of WordPress 4.7.5 and Button 2 version 2.0.1, I see the reply area below the comment being replied to:

You might consider making a backup of your site’s files and database, then disable your plugins one at a time to see if one is interfering with the default behavior of the theme.

    Hi David

Thank you for replying and advise.

I did try that to see if a plugin caused that problem but no, sadly enough not.

I have the newewst WP-version as well as the newest version of the theme.

On my pc… the comment area still shows up beneath all comments…
On my cellphone it shows up beneath the commment I want to reply on…

Can you think of anything else that could cause this?

Hi Melody, could you check something under Settings > Discussion and let me know. Is the box next to “Enable threaded (nested) comments” checked?

Hi Kathryn, thank you for answering, yes it is.

I deactivated it, cleaned up and activated it but that did not help either…

    Hi Melody,

Do you recall if you might have made changes to the theme’s files?

If so, I’d recommend deleting the theme and downloading a fresh copy of it.

When you do that, you might have to set up a few things again like widgets or menus, so it may be best to make another backup, or at least take a look at your widget/menu settings and make screenshots of things that could be cumbersome to set up again.

Another question about this… if I may?

(try to explain it as good as I can, the English is not my native tongue)

Before the change of last night:
    a) the comment-area showed up beneath all comments
    b) Once one clicked on the reply-link… one read: “reply to name-of-commentor”

After the change of last night:
    a) the comment-area shows up right beneath the comment to reply on (as I wanted)
    b) that line has disappeared

Is that caused by something I did wrong or is dat standard?

    Hi Melody,

    that line has disappeared

This is the default behavior of the theme.
