Business Genre Dropdown

    Firts, I couldn’t keep the word ‘genre’. Had to change it, used (Category) instead….

    Secondly, there is not a ‘BLANK’ or — Select a Category — position for the dropdown. The first title is the first category in your list. If a user does not see the category which describes their business and does not select any of those listed the first in the list will be displayed as their category.

    I worked around this by creating a new category and namining it “————“. Then I add a ‘desrciption’ to the dropdown which states, “(Required, Please use the box below if you do not see your (category) listed in the drop-down.)”

    Now, if a user doesn’t see their category they can enter it into the new form field “Name Your Category”. I keep this field turned off to being displayed. I have also added this ‘description’ “(Use this box ONLY if you did not see your (Category) in the drop-down above.)”

    Then when I edit the pending listing I can create the new category.

    So far so good… However, now the problem is that the new “——-” category does also show up on the Category listing page with a post count of (0).

    Hey, interesting …. I just saw that there is a ” -Choose One- ” spot on the Search Find A Listing page…. with my ” ——– ” name just below that ??

    The search form is behaving correctly. As far as Submit a Listing goes, since Category (Business Genre) is required, leaving the field unselected will not allow the form to submit, so you don’t really need a “Select one” item on there…I think you can remove your —— hack, as it’s not necessary.

    That is, unless you have a specific case you can walk me through where it’s not working, in which case I’m all ears. ??
