I have buttons to share pages on my browser toolbar, and share buttons on the page as well. When you click the button to share to Facebook, the share title says “CM Business Directory” instead of “Edmonton Business Directory”. The Meta description it uses in the share window is not what I put into Yoast as the meta description.

If anyone can suggest a fix for this, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Which plugins generate this buttons? You probably need to use another plugin or method as the one you are using ignore Yoast

    Thank you for your reply.

I don’t think the buttons are the problems. If I take the above url and copy and paste it into a Facebook post it generates the post in a little box with this information:

    CM Business Directory – Purify
Category: AllAccountantsCharter FlightGolf ClubBusinesses Found: 3 Padgett: Edmonton Accountant, Bookkeeper and Payroll Service The Derrick Golf and Winter Club Airco: Charter Flights from Edmonton CreativeMinds WordPress Plugin CM

It’s ignoring the title I set for the page in Yoast, as well as the meta description.

You get the same thing when you use a Facebook share button or copy and paste the url. It would seem the CM directory plugin is generating it’s own title and meta description for Facebook posts.

This is a problem when other people from my city share my post. Instead of sharing my Edmonton Business Directory, it comes up as CM Business Directory.

Thank you for any help that you can offer.

    Hi,

No, our plugin doesn’t add it’s own title, but perhaps you’ve tried to share this url in Facebook before you set up the Yoast and it got cached. Please try to clear the cache: https://stackoverflow.com/a/5257423/2107024
