*goes off laughing to install it everywhere*

    Thanks! Made my day….

That is just priceless! Sadly I rely on Dub’yah for my botched quotes kicks, as our new Prime Minister here is far too boring to say anything funny at all – he even shakes his childrens’ hands when dropping them off at school and they’re like 8 years old!

Thanks, you’ve also made my day!

    vkaryl

    (@vkaryl)

You know what’s really scary…. not the fact that he does this, but that he does it so often that there’s at least 365 of them….

    (@niziol)

One of our former PM’s, who didn’t really speak english or french, had a book devoted to his quotes, “Quotations from the Chairman”, I think it had multiple volumes too! Any speeches he gave usually left the english-to-french and the french to english translators (not to mention the signer) looking like deer in headlights!

I do have a plug-in question, are all the sayings hard-coded in or are they parsed from a text file somewhere?

    vkaryl

    (@vkaryl)

Hard-coded into the bushisms.php file…. Hm. I wonder if I want to consider using this in an upcoming “learn to build a database app” class?

Yup. I think I do. I do believe I’ll go ask permission.

    niziol

    (@niziol)

I think we might have had a shared thought there! I know other quotations plug-ins exist, but I don’t think I’ve found one that lets you use your own list of quotes! Do any like that exist?

    vkaryl

    (@vkaryl)

Yes. McMike’s Random Quote one, and there’s another one I can’t remember the name of (kickass uses it as preference – I’ll have to ask her….)

McMike’s from: https://www.mcmike.nl – let me know if it’s not still there, I’ll make a download addy available. I run this one everywhere. Easy to use, works with all versions, extremely easy to add quotes….

    vkaryl

    (@vkaryl)

Actually, there’s a ton of them here: https://www.wp-plugins.net/ (click on “Features”)

I think the “witty” one is the one kickass likes.

This Bushism one is excellent! Thank you ??

vkaryl: My Dutch is a little rusty (ie, so rusty it does not exist), if you could post a link that would be wonderful!

    Thank you!

    vkaryl

    (@vkaryl)

    Sure: https://bytehaven.com/tmp/qotd.zip

Now, this comes with only one quote (one of Mike’s) to start. If you don’t have a ready-made store of your own, I’d be happy to donate a few….

    Chris_K

    (@handysolo)

Here’s the one I use — stores quotes in db table: https://www.zombierobot.com/wp-quotes/

I might have to add some of these bushisms… from a different source, of course!

    niziol

    (@niziol)

Thanks to the both of you! I like the McMike plug-in because it outputs plain text (makes for less banging of my head on the desk)!

Vkaryl, a donation would be great! If it would be easier to email to me, you can send it to michaelniziol at gmail.com. Is your “It’s broke and I don’t know when it won’t be broke” quote in there??

    GRATIAS·TIBI·AGO

    vkaryl

    (@vkaryl)

No, it’s not, you know I forgot all about adding that one! I will do, and email you some….

    kickass

    (@kickass)

Yes, V, it was witty quotes I used. Uses a .txt flatfile instead of a mysql db.
