    Hello,

My client is running facebook ads. When people visit website through the campaign, url’s got long query parameters, which generates such an errors (some symbols are hidden due to the privacy reasons). But the length of url can be over 250 symbols:

Burst Statistics: URL parameters are too long:

[25-Apr-2024 18:47:28 UTC] Burst Statistics: URL parameters are too long: utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&utm_content=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&fbclid=IwAR1jW2R7fxEcrW_q4zxufbx7RgXrzxi7PokmKD-wIf_oxk2NdVfB_iSJIn0_aem_AZXiV8y5F7Hkkgy-snxcVsYSk5FcbgmoLH414U7qGGAsUDLUqEslMQIUkiApN9hMgVs_cHE9JkYzXSmki4XR1yB9

And there is another type of error such as:

[25-Apr-2024 18:40:20 UTC] Burst Statistics: Failed to create statistic. Error: WordPress database error: Processing the value for the following field failed: entire_page_url. The supplied value may be too long or contains invalid data.

Moreover, we sometimes get more general errors, which, I assume, are just acceptable failure of the system and nothing can be done about it. But maybe you could give a brief explanation about when it could occur:

[25-Apr-2024 18:35:15 UTC] Burst Statistics: Failed to create a new session.
[25-Apr-2024 18:37:56 UTC] Burst Statistics: Failed to determine hit type.

    Thank you in advance!

Hi @ficusmedia we’ll look into the parameter length. To keep the database small the columns are currently limited. But I can see the use case, so I’ll discuss this here. The other items can be ignored safely. If it would happen a lot we’d have to look into that. It’s hard to say what exactly causes the logs, it may be an anomylous request to the website, with incomplete data. For example from a bot, although most bots are excluded as early as possible.

Thank you, Rogier, for a fast and clear response. I will be waiting for updates.

And if you do not plan to include an exception in future updates, I would be pleased if you could give me an example for overcoming this with some WordPress filter or plugin’s file modification.
