Bulk Edit Events Categories

    I need to mass/bulk edit the categories of my events.
    For example I have 50+ events categorized as “Meetings” and I want to change some of them to “Troop Meetings” category (sub category of Meetings) without going to one by one event and change the category.

    The problem is that the Bulk Edit page did not work as intended, It CAN ADD to new categories but the OLD categories stayed. So for example I bulk-edited 10 events and checked “Troop Meetings” category (the Meeting category was never shown checked on this page), those 10 events will have BOTH “Meetings” and “Troop Meetings” categories. And if I bulk-edited that same 10 events and checked “Training” category, those 10 events will have all 3 categories (Meetings, Troop Meetings, and Training).

  • Hi @home2mars,

    The basic method of changing categories in the bulk edit method is that you first would have to remove the category currently selected then bulk save the events.

    Then, bulk edit the events afterwards, a second time, and select the category desired, then bulk save them.

    Hmmm, not ideal, because that means I have to redo all the other old events with the correct old category.

    How many tables are involved in this operations? Can you let me know your table schema for event-category links? I might risk to do it via cpanel (backdoor). Then I can update events of certain “age”.

    It’s in the table called wp_ai1ec_event_category. There are 3 columns.

    You can look at the table structure for the calendar with prefix ai1ec_ for any other tables using a program like PHPMyadmin.
