Bulk deleting multiple media items fails

I have WP Offload Media configured with a DigitalOcean Spaces instance. When selecting multiple media files and trying to delete them, the process takes forever and eventually times out.
This happens with as little as 20 media files selected for bulk delte and with very generous php.ini settings on a decent web server.
Is there any way to speed up the delete process allowing me to reliable delete multiple files? I have a script running that deletes old media, and because of how slow the delete process is it constantly fails.

Never mind, turns out DigitalOcean Spaces is a terrible service with horrible speeds especially when you have a lot of small files (eg every WordPress site). I’ve decided to store media locally for the time being, for anyone experiencing slow speeds with DigitalOcean Spaces, just don’t use it and move your media to S3 or Google Storage Services.
