Bulk category update error
-
I had this error and my site provider said it was a bug with WordPress:
=====
I am trying to bulk modify the categories my posts are tagged with and when I use the filter option I get the following message
“The data area passed to a system call is too small.”
Even if I select it to ‘view all’ I still get this message?
=====
My site host came back with the following:We have determined the cause of the error. The error was returned because the URL (of the “Update”) button was too long. The maximum length of an URL is 2083 characters, while the URL of the Update button has 2653 characters.
As much as we would like to resolve the issue, the issue is a WordPress issue (the “POST” method should be used instead of using straight URL submission).
We have found another interesting fact regarding the issue. The following is the exact URL when the button is clicked:
[Ridiculously long url moderated]
======================================================================The following string was repeated 15 times in the URL for some unknown (and unnecessary) reasons:
==================================================================
post_category[]=0&tax_input[post_tag]=&post_author=-1&comment_status=&ping_status=&_status=-1&sticky=-1&post_view=list&screen=edit-post
