  • Hi I think if you go to the Media section and click the Assistant option. Search or filter or tag the images you want to bulk tag.
Then click Bulk Actions and choose EDIT.
In the page that pops up you can then pick the Categories and Tags you want to add to all selected files.

Thanks for the positive feedback and for your question. Thanks as well to @downtonpc for his quick response and answer.

Here are some earlier topics with more details on the “Bulk Edit” approach:

Batch Edit ALT tag with FILENAME

Add new data to mediafiles description, keeping current

    Remove captions in bulk

Adding images in bulk to category

Depending on the specifics of your application you may find the suggestions in those topics of interest.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have problems or further questions regarding the material in the above topics. Thank you for your interest in the plugin.

Thanks for your earlier reply. I’m doing better. Only thing is I have 1000s of pics. Ultimately I may want to customize the alt-tag of each but for now I think I’d like them all to have the same thing. So far I can only select all of the pics from one page (which means 9). When I try to hold the selection from one page and go the next I lose the first. Thanks! Claude

Thanks for your update and the progress report.

You wrote “Ultimately I may want to customize the alt-tag of each but for now I think I’d like them all to have the same thing.” You don’t say what you want the value to be, but you can use mapping rules on the Settings/Media library Assistant IPTC/EXIF tab to change all of the items in your Media Library at once. You can use a Content Template to compose a value from multiple sources, etc.

You can also pull down the Screen Options area at the upper-right corner of the Media/Assistant submenu screen and change the number of items on each page to a larger number, such as 50 or 100 or more. That would allow you to perform the Bulk Edit action on more items in each “batch”. A Content Template can be used in the Bulk Edit area, too. You can find more information in the earlier topics and the Settings/Media Library Assistant Documentation tab.
