• I have searched the codex for the answer to this, and it may be my inexperience is preventing me from recognizing the answer. This is what I’m trying to do:
    1. The current website is built through Weebly.com. The domain is hosted by Yahoo and the dns is pointing to Weebly.
    2. I want to change the website to WordPress site by completely building the WP site through my HostGator account, then pointing the dns over there.
    3. I want to do this with as little down time as possible.

Does any one have some “begin at the beginning” instructions for a beginner?

    Thanks for your help,
    Debbie

  • you can “build” with wordpress anywhere. you then go through the process of moving wordpress, just like its explained in the codex.

Most hosts provide temporary urls that are web accessible while the dns isnt pointed there.

Why does Word Press not have a privacy setting which we can use while building a site that we can change when we are finished building it?

I did not get your question. What kind of privacy settings are you referring?
