Building Classified Website advice

  • I’m currently setting up WordPress 4.1.0 with Xampp so I can work on it without incurring hosting fees. Building website on shoestring budget, cannot afford to use paid plugins as of now. I’ve tried googling resources for a sticky or How-To, where I can build my own classifieds site from the ground up. Have yet to find anything. Looking for advice I can read either on the internet or in book form so I can do it myself.

    I’m not looking for a recommendation for a plugin. The only free one I’ve seen is Osclass by Bitnami where I downloaded Xampp from. From the description of the features, it won’t preform like I want it to. (The concept I’m working is a paid Real Estate classified catering to a niche’ market). Suggestions for resources would be greatly appreciated!

    Maybe look at directory plugins?

    If you want to look at full control, consider using custom post type and all that shizzle. You could look at Pods plugin or something like that, there’s heaps out there.
