    WordPress as a CMS,
I am already aware to do this there is a simple built in feature where u make two pages one for the blog and one for the homepage and you know the rest…

My question is, I want to build a front page on my domain (index.php is used for the blog set up of course) I want to build a unique template with a different header design and body style. How can i achieve this?

My wordpress is set up like this mydomain.com/blog so by default when you go to my domain.com you see the CMS style frontpage and a navigation link would direct to the blog, any ideas how i can create this or do I have to build the page in the core and have all these links pointed from my wordpress site to the front?

I don’t think the above option would work well so I think That would mean building a page and having a custom template. Now the problem is DO I include a custom header style into this front page template?

One more thing I’m willing to tackle the coding aspect of setting up a front page with a template any ideas of a good way? I found one but my blog is giving me a 404 error.

  • In admin, in Settings you simply follow the directions to show your blog at toplevel instead of from its directory.

And you simply create a home.php template following the instructions in codex, and then go into admin/settings/reading and set it to show “a static page”. Done deal.

And all this info is in the Docs.

I’m not sure what you meant.

Ok so I would have to make a home page and use a home.php template or something as the front page?
