Hi, on the Woo checkout page, with a user with an existing account, if I change the the shipping State and have the wrong zip code, and then try to place an order, I get an error saying “ZIP does not match selected state” (which makes sense).

The problem is, that the page stops scrolling properly, and I can’t change any of the address fields. It locks up.

Then, if I refresh the page, I get this error: “There are some issues with the items in your cart. Please go back to the cart page and resolve these issues before checking out.” If I click go back to cart, and then try to checkout again, I get the same error and can’t checkout. The only way to change the error at this point is to go to My Account and change it from there.

I found, the only to get rid of this error is to disable automated taxes, which is not really an option.

Can you please look into this?

    Thank you!

  • Hi @marv2 – Before we move forward with assuming this is a bug, can you try a conflict test on your site to see if the scroll positioning is being affected by exterior code?

The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

    Thanks!

    Hi Joey,

    Thanks for your informative response.

I disabled all plugins aside from WooCommerce, WooCommerce Servicews and Jetpack (in order for automated taxes to still work), and I enabled the Storefront theme, and the the scroll positioning of the page was gone ??

I narrowed the problem plugin down to Woo Discount Rules by Flycart . When disabling that plugin, everything worked properly.

However I did notice that if I have a mismatched zip code/state, and get the error, and then leave the checkout page and try to go back, I cannot fix the issue, and instead get an error stating “There are some issues with the items in your cart. Please go back to the cart page and resolve these issues before checking out.” The problem is that the error is with an address, and that cannot be fixed in the cart. The only way to fix it at that state is by going to My Account and re-saving the addresses. I think a more helpful approach would be to allow the user to view the checkout page as normal, and see the error regarding the zip code, and being able to fix it while on the checkout page. There should be no need to hide the contents of the checkout page.

    Thanks!

    Hey @marv2,

Thanks for following up and letting us know which plugin appeared to be causing the problem.

Regarding the “There are some issues with the items in your cart. Please go back to the cart page and resolve these issues before checking out.” error, that typically shows up when there are limitations in place that have not been met- often related to features added by themes or other plugins/gateways.

Within core WooCommerce, that error tends to be related to stock count and specific variations that are not completed/available. If you believe that the issue is related exclusively to the shipping mismatch, it might be helpful to try enabling shipping calculations on the Cart page (if you aren’t already).

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

I have this exact same issue and cannot find a fix
