Hello, I have come across a really strange and relatively obscure bug that is hard to spot but likely to affect most users.

Note: this seems to only happen when viewed on a mobile device, I have tested on android and iOS in Chrome FF and Safari. All seem to have the issue.

If you use Woocommerce and are on a product archive page, for example /shop/, if you then use a filter (plugin) or Woo’s layered nav product filters (to select a colour or other attribute), then click on a product, you go to the product page. However, if you then click the browser back button to return to the archive, the page then reloads again and you return to the product page you were just viewing. If you then click the back button (again), it lets you return to the archive page without the refresh. I have tested this with other plugins off and the only thing that fixes it is disabling GTM4WP. I cannot see a setting within the plugin that when toggled off fixes it.

Have you got any ideas why this might be happening? We have had a number of reports from our customers that are getting quite frustrated by it when browsing products via archive pages.

    Many thanks
    Sam

    I got the same problem.
On my site, If you are on the archive page and click on a product and the click back, it will immediately go back to the product page.
Happens only when the archive page is cached.
Happens on both mobile and desktop.
Happens both with and without filters on.

I realised after I made the original post for me it has nothing to do with filters. It is simply going from archive to product page then back to archive.

Strange bug, hopefully there is a fix?

    thanks

Anyone found a fix for this?

Hi, any news from the plugin author? I notice there are other threads about this bug and no one seems to find a fix. The advice is to update to the latest version but that does not fix it. The only thing that stops it happening is to disable GTM4WP.

To clarify, the issue is as follows:

    • Only seems to happen on mobile devices
    • navigate from woocommerce archive page to product page.
    • click back button in browser
    • you go back to the archive page, but then the page reloads and it sends you back to the product page you were just on.
    • if you then click the back button again you go back to the archive but this time the page doesn’t reload and redirect you.

This creates a really bad user experience and we have receive a number of complaints from our customers about it, so hoping the author can address it?

    thanks

Has this plugin been abandoned? Or does the author just not reply to support tickets? This bug remains unaddressed for 4 months!

Have any other users found a solution? Any help appreciated.

    thanks
