Bug with “Accept invalid VAT numbers”

  • Hi,
    This plugin is excellent ! But I’ve a bug.

    Plugin version : Version 2.0.19.210629
    WooCommerce : Version 5.4.1

    I have a problem with the setting “Accept invalid VAT numbers”.
    This setting is currently enabled but if I enter an invalid VAT number, I cannot checkout my order. The checkout returns an error concerning an invalid VAT number.

    If I enter a valid VAT number it’s working… But I want to accept invalid VAT number.

    The option “Accept invalid VAT numbers” works just fine, there isn’t a bug related to it. The only reason for the VAT number to be rejected when that option is enabled is that the VAT number is configured to be “required”. In that context, “required” means “valid VAT number required”. Due to that, the setting to accept invalid numbers has no effect.

    If you wish customers to be able to enter invalid VAT numbers and proceed anyway, you can set the VAT number to “optional”. That will allow customers who enter wrong numbers to proceed anyway with their purchase.
