• Hello. I believe there is a bug with non latin characters and sub-folders with long non latin characters names.

To replicate it create the folder structure below

    ΦΑΚΕΛΟΣ
    - SSSSSSSSS FFF LLLLLLLLLLL PPPPPPPPPP GGGGGGGGGG VVVVVVVVV
    -- test.txt
    -- test.txt

Go to media sync -> scan and check the output.

The test.txt that is inside the folder with Greek characters is not showing up although it exists in server.

I believe it has something to do with the length of the non english characters that are also in nested subfolders.

As a rule of thumb, try avoiding non english characters on slugs/titles/files etc

In case you are not aware these are 2 helpful plugins: AutoConvert Greeklish Permalinks and Greeklish Slugs By Kostas Charalampidis

Also compare the codes from: …/trunk/clean-image-filenames.php and …/trunk/includes/skp-greeklish-slugs.php and try adjusting the plugin as needed. I haven’t tried it yet but maybe the plugin author (@erolsk8) could.

I’m afraid you’d eventually run into many weird issues with these characters in other places as well, but I’ll try to find some time to look into it this weekend. Thank you both for detailed explanations.

@erolsk8 “I’m afraid you’d eventually run into many weird issues with these characters in other places as well”. I totally agree with you. That is why I strongly recommend “…avoiding non english characters”.

Thank you for the super fast reply.

So far, I’ve found out that files get scanned, it’s just some tricky javascript issue that prevents those rows from being expanded and visible (it’s just hidden with CSS).

Also, it seems to work in Pro version (where UI got significantly refactored), but I’d still like to fix it in free version if it’s not too complicated and if I find time for it.

@marikamitsos for slugs i use the plugin as you mentioned, but the titles must have the non english characters.

@erolsk8 Thanks for this. Will wait for a fix!

Hey @moultrex, you can try it out in the new version 1.4.5.
