I like this plug-in, thank you for offering it! We were running some shipping scenarios and found a bug or issue with how the plugin manages the quotes in the cart.

A customer can change their cart contents and the previously approved freight quote/cost remains valid and allows the order to still be processed after the cart contents/total is changed.

There needs to be a mechanism that the cart contents remain frozen/static once an approved shipping quote is provided. I’m not a programmer, but I think the easiest way to be to verify cart subtotal AND qty of cart contents from when the approved quote as provided and then when the order is finally submitted. If this verification fails, the approved shipping quote expires and must be requested again.

Additionally, we thought of two improvements to the plugin:

    1. It would be useful if we can provide custom text or information to the customer in the pop-up request window. For instance “Please allow up to 24-48 hours for us to supply a shipping rate during our business hours.”
    2. Quote expiration timer. Freight quotes can change day to day. So having quotes expire after some time makes sure old quotes aren’t processed. Also provides some urgency for the customer to complete their order in a timely manner.

Thank you, your work is appreciated!

Following up. I did notice that upon order submission there is a cart notice that says “Cart mismatch. You might updated your cart. Please request your shipping quote again.” But, the shipping quote box remains green and pre-populated with the prior shipping cost and does not default back to “Request a quote”

    Hi @f1appassionato

The customer will see the “Cart mismatch” notice because he added or removed more products from the cart. Therefore, store owners need to review again for updated shipping costs. If the store owner updates the shipping cost, the customer will get an email notification for the updated cart.

    Best Regards

    Hi,

For cart mismatch: Suppose customer added one container to cart and requested a custom shipping cost and store owner approved. But during checkout customer changed his mind and added more one container. So it will not be good to take the shipping cost store owner approved at first.

About no 1: Good suggestion, I will add an email template for the customer. So that the customer will notified after requesting the shipping quote. Within the template, you can easily add any instruction.

About no 2: Thank you for suggestion. I will implement with few days.
