Bug in redirects with GET parameters?

Hi dries863! If you wish Redirect List to redirect to the new URL when there is a GET parameter, regardless of what the parameter is, you need to specify:

https://www.scribbr.de/lektorat-korrekturlesen/englische-bachelorarbeit-masterarbeit/?

with a trailing “?”. For reference, the format should be:

Redirect when there are no GET query specified:
https://www.scribbr.de/lektorat-korrekturlesen/englische-bachelorarbeit-masterarbeit/

Redirect regardless of whether there are any GET parameters:
https://www.scribbr.de/lektorat-korrekturlesen/englische-bachelorarbeit-masterarbeit/?

“test” GET parameter should exist but value does not matter:
https://www.scribbr.de/lektorat-korrekturlesen/englische-bachelorarbeit-masterarbeit/?test

“test” GET parameter should exist and value must match “1234”:
https://www.scribbr.de/lektorat-korrekturlesen/englische-bachelorarbeit-masterarbeit/?test=1234

So what I basically need to do when I want to be safe is to always add a question mark after the slash?

That works for redirects with and without get parameters.

Wouldn’t it a great option to add this by default to the plugin? Or make a setting for it?

I think this will often go wrong when people don’t realize that there is an Adwords or Analytics campaign on the redirected page.

Hi dries863! Yes you should always add a question mark after the slash if you want it to work for redirects with and without GET parameters.

Thank you for the suggestions. The default was setup that way intentionally – since the inputs are URLs we cannot arbitrarily introduce a different symbol to denote any GET parameter, and it would not be consistent within the scheme to swap the no GET parameter and any GET parameter formats. Plus it would not be viable now to change how the plugin works as it would affect all current users.

We will keep in mind your suggestion for a setting, when we have time to update this plugin in the future.
