    I have noticed if I duplicate a story to re-use the layout I made, and reuse some image elements again that have text for visually impaired users, it will say you don’t have the text in the checklist. Only way to remedy is to completely delete the text, click out of the accessibility box, then back into the box and paste or type in the text.

    On another note – where can I submit feature requests? After heavily using this plugin, I have a couple. Thanks!

  • @tlf123 thanks so much for your report! A few questions to confirm your experience:

    1) Is the Image Missing Description checklist recommendation what you see when you duplicate a page with an image that already has assistive text?

    2) If so, when you save a draft of the story, does the recommendation still appear?

    3) Are you adding the image (with assistive text) again directly from the media library or are you seeing the issue with already placed images after pressing the duplicate page icon in the editor?

    We welcome feature requests here or on our Github Repository.

    Hi Renee,

    To be clear, what I am doing is duplicating an entire story, then changing out images and text to fit my ‘new’ story. So to answer your questions:

    1. The image missing description error is what I see in the checklist, and it shows for all media that require it, even if they have it – on stories that have been duplicated.

    2. Yes. When I save a draft of the story they still appear. The only way to get rid of the error is to copy the assistive text. Erase it. Click out of that window, then back into it and paste the assistive text back in.

    3. I am not adding the image back in – I am seeing the issue with already places images. However I am not duplicating a page – I am duplicating an entire story. (Which is my work around to not being able to make and save my own templates!)

    Thanks!
    Teri

    @tlf123 thanks for the clarification!

    Are you using the duplicate feature from the dashboard to copy your entire story?

    I have yet to replicate the issue. If you have a moment, could you record a short video of the steps you’ve taken?

    You can use an app like Recordit or Loom to capture it.

    I can confirm this issue, but I’m not using a duplicated story. I started fresh with the Food & Stuff template, and I have some original pages and some pages that I duplicated using the + button at the bottom. I had accessibility errors for every image on both the original and duplicated pages for all of the image alt text. Deleting the alt text, clicking out of the field, then pasting it back in removed the errors. Saving a draft makes no difference in the errors.
